We’re delivering the first e-Passenger 1500, named RANDØYSUND, to our customer Fjord Shuttle AS in Norway. The takeoff took place last week, after which the crew began their journey home via the scenic Göta Canal. The voyage has proceeded smoothly, and the customer has expressed satisfaction with the vessel’s performance and design.
The e-Passenger 1500 is a modern, fully electric passenger ferry designed for quiet and sustainable operation in demanding Nordic conditions. With a length of 15.77 meters and a beam of 5.2 meters, the vessel accommodates 36 passengers and one crew member. Accessibility has been carefully considered, with barrier-free entry for wheelchairs and strollers. The layout includes two toilets—one for passengers and one for crew—ensuring comfort and functionality for all on board.
Powered by a 150 kW Norwegian ZEM electric propulsion system and supported by a 90 kW Solé diesel generator, the vessel delivers a top speed of 10 knots and cruises comfortably at 8 knots. It offers a battery-only range of more than 30 nautical miles at cruising speed. Navigation is handled via a Furuno TECDIS system, and propulsion is completed with a Finnish-made Steelcraft propeller.
The e-Passenger 1500 is purpose-built for fixed-route operation in Norway’s fjords, providing reliable, low-emission transport as part of the region’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure. This project reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting the green transition in the maritime sector—particularly within the infrastructure and public transport segments.
The second vessel in this series is already under construction and is expected to be completed in July.
